Wastelands Music Festival, May 1st 2011

I have the honor of opening the festival at 2pm SLT. Still it's a little unconventional time for me to play, but for a festival of this kind I say screw the time zones.

CTRL_ALT_DELETE

Ever felt like getting lost?
This place kinda gives you that feeling. It's one of those amazing places/sim you see and you have to come back again to explore some more. From underground paths, to lava pits, and hollow moon you won't find in travel brochures in the near future.
One path leads to another, so carefully choose your path and maybe from point A you arrive to point C via point F.
Speaking of point A.

No more pictures?
Here you can take even more.

Live Music and Second Life.

When I first joined Second Life, I've never even though of the possibility that Live Music could exist within a game. If someone ever told me about this concept before, I would have though it as a Science Fiction, but hey we live in 21st century and everything can be possible. First time I came across a live concert in Second Life was a band that played at this huge concert area, and to tell you the sim was full. I think it must have been over 60-100 avatars across this huge area, and the lag almost became unbearable. This was back in April 2008. And since then I got hooked up on the Live Music scene in Second Life. I've heard a lot of solo and the occasional bands play in the virtual world, and I think this is a great opportunity for solo artists and bands to present their music in a completely different environment. It gives a lot of space to improvise, experiment and do anything you would or wouldn't do in front of a real audience. While some only need a microphone and acoustic guitar, some also represent themselves using electronic instruments, like synthesizers, beat machines, electric guitars and rigs. Gives the possibility for a whole band to hook up on a stream using only a mixer, or they can be all over the world, using nothing but a Ninjam stream to synchronize and stream in Second Life. For all those new to this concept and have an account in Second Life, there is nothing stopping you to check out these events. Just log into the virtual world, check the events tab and look for Live Music. There is literally thousands of these events every week. Great way to listen to new music, meet new people, and even talk to the musicians. I can suggest you thousands of musicians and bands you should listen to, but hey why not discover them yourself.

Ninjas and The Astral Nexus.

Typical day, just fighting ninjas who invade my speakers.
And stopped by the Astral Nexus today to take these pictures of this amazing venue. I've played many sets here last year, and I was happy to see it again this Saturday. In Saturday my friend Astronimus Randt organized a 12 hour long charity event to raise money for "Relay for Life" and I was really happy that I was opening the event. They managed to raise 30K linden for a good cause.
I hope soon we might do a dual-stream with Astronimus. Live ambience and violin. Really looking forward for this event.

And for those who looked beyond the pictures, here is a 30 minute snippet of the show this Saturday.

Krakov Letov and the Live Videos.

I stumbled upon these video's ages ago, and some are done by my dear friend Aiden Witral.
Don't forget to check out his Youtube channel, he has video's from a lot of Live Music shows in Second Life, documenting them in his own artistic way.
http://www.youtube.com/user/aidenwitrial

Oh and the video's
This one is done at the old Notes Shack Pub in the Norwegian sim. It's a little electronica set I've came up with using only beats and few guitar loops, and this is part of it.

This one is done at my friend Isobel Gustafson's old venue. It was a multimedia event where the skies changed by the mood of the music. Too bad I couldn't follow my own show, too busy stuck in front of my Ableton Live screen.
Hooray for etheral!!!

One of the many islands on Aiden's sim. He is a great landscape artist, and I seriously consider to hire him to design a private island for me one day in real life. :)
Jokes aside, you should check out his video channel for the many landscapes he has designed and created.

Many of the other video's on Youtube.

A blog! About Krakov?

Any shows, thoughts, pictures, music I will share it here.
Follow me here on blogspot or in Second Life

A little about me :)
Krakov Letov is an instrumentalist in SL.  His music can be described as ambient, experimental, noise, psychedelic, post-rock and so on. Krakov uses a live program for mixing guitar, bass, synth, loops, noises...even spoons, chopsticks, metal things, pen, paper or whatever he finds nearby, all played live with samples, loops and soundscapes. Every show is a different story as it's mostly improvisation.
